Subsequent to our previous post (see link below), RJP has successfully gained planning approval for Route 2 of the new TCIS across the Merseyrail network.  Similarly to Route 1, the applications were submitted on behalf of Alan Dick Communications Ltd.

The process involved the submission of three separate planning applications to Wirral Council, split along railway lines on the Merseyrail network. Application APP/20/00250 was approved under delegated authority on 26/05/2020. Application APP/20/00251 went to planning committee on 09/06/2020, and was deferred on the basis that further public consultation was required. RJP conducted further extensive consultation with affected residents, including Zoom sessions which were highly constructive. The application was heard at committee, along with application APP/20/00474, on 22/09/2020. Both applications were approved and our project lead, Shaun Gaffey, was given a special mention by Councillors for his work to engage with residents.

Issues raised and lessons learned from discussions with local residents have been used to inform the remaining applications across the network. These applications are being processed by RJP in late 2020, ahead of the roll out of the new fleet of trains in 2021.
