RJP is excited to be appointed by Buckingham contracting group as consents manager on the £78 million Wigan to Bolton electrification project. The upgrade is a major investment in infrastructure in the North, providing quieter trains and improving operational efficiency and improved air quality. The project involves 450 new overhead line equipment structures, alterations to 17 bridges and improvements at two level crossings. Platform extensions at Hindley, Westhoughton and Ince stations will help reduce overcrowding at peak times and make space for six-carriage trains. The project brings together specialists from engineering, design, property, licensing and the environment among others. We are enjoying working collaboratively with the team to ensure all the consents are in place in time for the start on site in early 2023.
